Ladies and Gents, we've already cleared one month of 2022 and I hope everyone is keeping positive and productive.
Need a little fitness inspiration? Erika Rischko, an 82-year old grandma killin' it in the gym should do the trick! Erika inspires age-confidence! She kicks butt and it shows!
I personally started the year with the simple goal to get "Moving Everyday" and so far I'm on track.
I've even gone back to my dance roots and have taken up an online beginner ballet barre class with former New York City Ballet dancer, Kathryn Morgan. (If you're looking for a simple ballet barre, I highly recommend Kathryn's class!)
After a handful of knee surgeries, including a knee replacement in my mid-forties, and a 25-year hiatus from dancing (other than dance parties in the kitchen), I figured starting back at square one would be wise, and my body would appreciate my thoughtfulness.
Any other former dancers out there trying to get back in the groove?
I've pretty much lost all my turnout and my hips definitely have a mind of their own these days, but despite all that I'm discovering, once again, how much I enjoy the discipline of a simple ballet barre class.
Now if you've already tripped on your new year's resolution or intention, it's never too late to reset, get moving, and keep moving.
To be honest, I made my goal right at the beginning of the year, but in classic form it took me a couple of weeks to get a routine going. Reality check! But, hey, no sense in beating myself up about it.
And on those inevitable days I feel like reverting to watching my yoga tapes from the couch (yeah, I used to do that), I hope to channel my inner Erika to get me off my butt, and into my ballet shoes.
Here's Erika again just in case you missed her awesomeness the first time around. Check out her instagram (@erikarischko) for even more fitness inspiration and cute dances with her adorable husband.
Get movin',
Donna
